I watch a lot of football, specifically NFC North football. So naturally I’ve watch just about every Minnesota game this year. I saw Tarvaris Jackson pre-benching and post-benching, and I saw Gus Frerotte in between Jackson’s benchings. The argument for Frerotte to start is that he led the Vikings to an 8-3 record as a starter (although one of those wins was a comeback led by Jackson at Detroit). The argument for Jackson is that he has looked great in the six quarters he’s played since Frerotte’s back injury. On the flip side the argument against Jackson is that those six quarters are about the ONLY time he has looked like a capable NFL starter. And I would say the argument against Frerotte is he has NOT looked like a capable NFL starter at all this year. I know he is 8-3, but I see more of him keeping opponents IN games as opposed to winning those games for the Vikings. Case in point, Green Bay at Minnesota and Minnesota at Detroit (first half). My belief is the Vikings are in no worse hands with Jackson as they are with Frerotte AND Jackson has more upside as a starting quarterback. I think they should go with Jackson, what do you think?

I couldn’t agree more. Ferotte was “getting the job done” but not much more. It seems Jackson has really stepped up his game a notch now, and I think he deserves to be in there as the starting QB right now. He looks good and the team is “in sync” right now..I wouldn’t mess with a good thing.

The Vikings have everything in place to be a real contender, except at quarterback. Jackson turns the ball over too much and Ferotte has been managable at best.
