Good to be back

Some of you may (or may not) of noticed I got to enjoy some time away from work these past couple of weeks.  Part of that was due to the holiday season, but the main reason was that I purchased my very first home.  My fiance and I thought that planning for our April wedding wasn’t enough work so we thought why not go ahead with this major step in our lives.

What a sense of accomplishment though unpacking the countless boxes and thinking to myself, “Hey, this is MY house.”  Of course the week we closed on the house, it seemed like it snowed every other day so it did not take long to become an expert snow shoveler.  But whether it’s shoveling, doing some small repair, or putting on a fresh coat of paint,  there’s a lot of pride that comes with having a place of my own.

So with the house looking respectable (the spare bedroom has become the stash for boxes we probably won’t open until the next move), it’s back to work for me.  It seems that come post-holiday time, action begins to heat up for the winter prep season.  Everybody has a few conference games under their belts as well as a full nonconference schedule and teams are beginning to separate themselves a bit.  We can begin to see who we may be watching and following come March.

A couple of things that should be interesting to see what happens these next 6 weeks.  Can both the Central boys and girls basketball teams hold down the top spot in the MVC?  Who will emerge from a WCHL that seems to have about a handful of teams who will contend for the title?  And is Brett Favre going to really retire for good? (o.k. - I was kidding about the last one)

Let us know below what local storyline you’ll be watching closely up until March Madness.
