Best wishes to Aaron Matas

If you missed this past Friday’s 10 p.m. newscast, you missed the final show at WKBT for Aaron Matas.  Aaron served as our weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter for the past couple of years.  Before that he served a variety of roles at the station, working here for a total of over 4 years.

I know many people will be wondering what is next for Aaron.  I’m glad to tell you that he accepted a job at a station in Champaign, Illinois doing the same job.  He hopes to some day make it to Indianapolis (by his wife’s hometown) or to Minneapolis (his hometown), so this is a job to put him in great position to make that move some day.

If you read this blog regularly, then you’re fully aware that Aaron and I are great friends, having the role as best man at my recent wedding.  He’ll be missed as a friend as well as an award winning reporter and co-worker.  I’d like to wish him the best of luck as he embarks on a new challenge.
